In a dramatic turn of events, distinguished filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and his wife were apprehended by Udaipur police in a significant fraud case involving Rs 30 crore, a senior official confirmed. The arrest comes amidst allegations of defrauding Dr. Ajay Murdia, a renowned medical professional from Udaipur.
Authorities revealed that Dr. Murdia, the visionary behind Indira Group of Companies, had planned to produce a film in memory of his late wife. However, the promised financial returns of Rs 200 crore were never realized, prompting Murdia to lodge a complaint with local law enforcement.
Udaipur Police, now deep into the investigation, will petition for Bhatt's transit remand on Monday at the Bandra court in Mumbai. The arrest follows two previous detentions related to the case, with further developments anticipated as the case unfolds.
