A 20-member delegation from Bangladesh, including eight Muktijodhas and two serving army officers, is set to arrive in Kolkata to attend Vijay Diwas celebrations. This annual event commemorates the Indian Armed Forces' decisive victory over Pakistan in 1971, which culminated in the creation of Bangladesh.
The war that broke out on December 3, 1971, concluded with the surrender of Pakistan's Eastern Army on December 16, paving the way for Bangladesh's independence. The delegation, consisting of those who opposed Pakistani rule, will join the Indian Army's Eastern Command in honoring this pivotal moment in history.
During their visit, the delegates will participate in a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at Vijay Durg on December 16.
