A powerful explosion rocked a godown in Silvassa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, early on Saturday morning, claiming the lives of four individuals and injuring two others, as confirmed by local officials. The unfortunate incident occurred around 9 am at M/s S K Enterprise during a suspected nitrogen gas refill, leading to catastrophic consequences.
Emergency teams, including Fire and Emergency Services, Police, and 108 ambulance services, quickly arrived at the scene to manage the crisis and evacuate nearby residents to safer areas. The preliminary Forensic Science Laboratory report suggests a pressure blast resulted from a rupture in a stainless-steel tank believed to contain nitrogen.
The situation is currently under control, thanks to prompt action taken by the authorities. An inquiry committee is diligently examining the circumstances of the explosion. Meanwhile, a district administration inspection committee has been established to ensure industrial units adhere to safety regulations, focusing on those handling hazardous chemicals without necessary permissions.
