Karnataka Assembly Honors Saalumarada Thimmakka and Other Icons
The Karnataka Assembly paid tributes to environmentalist Saalumarada Thimmakka and other prominent figures during its winter session. Tributes were also paid to former legislators and actor M S Umesh. The session included discussions on honoring Thimmakka's legacy and plans for a memorial for novelist Bhyrappa.

The Karnataka Assembly convened on Monday, paying homage to distinguished figures who passed away recently, including renowned environmentalist Saalumarada Thimmakka and Congress MLA H Y Meti.
During the winter session at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, obituary tributes extended to former legislators R V Devaraj and Shivasharanappagouda Patil, as well as popular actor M S Umesh, marking a somber opening to the proceedings.
Remembrances highlighted Thimmakka's legacy for planting nearly 400 trees along a 5km highway, with plans for a museum and award in her name. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and other leaders emphasized the importance of respecting the departed icons.
