The Tipra Motha Party leader, Pradyot Kishore Maniya Debbarma, has strongly reiterated that the decision on the script for the Kokborok language is solely an issue for the Tiprasa people to resolve independently. This statement came in light of the recent remarks by Tripura's chief, Manik Saha, who suggested the creation of an indigenous script over using the Roman script.

The debate around this cultural matter surged when Debbarma, through a social media video, pointed out that no external authority should interfere with the Tiprasa people's linguistic choices, especially concerning educational examinations. He drew parallels with Assam's policy allowing Roman script for Karbi Anglong students, arguing for similar liberties in Tripura.

Furthermore, Debbarma critiqued the BJP's assertions about sweeping the forthcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council elections, challenging them to win all seats, as claimed. Elections are scheduled for early next year, with keen competition expected between the TMP and the BJP's ally, the TMC.
