Bhadrak's district magistrate, Dilip Routrai, made headlines on Wednesday as he chose to ride a bicycle from his home to his office. This unusual decision by a senior IAS officer prompted admiration among locals and highlighted his commitment to a healthier lifestyle and environmental sustainability.
Routrai, when speaking to the press, shared that his decision stemmed from a personal dedication to fitness and reducing his carbon footprint. Given the short distance and lack of official commitments, cycling was the perfect option for the day.
In reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Fit India movement, Routrai emphasized cycling as a key component of maintaining good health and reducing fuel consumption. He announced plans to continue this eco-friendly practice throughout the winter and on suitable days during the summer.
