Vibrant Sankranti Festivities Illuminate Telangana with Tradition and Joy

The harvest festival of Sankranti was celebrated with enthusiasm in Telangana, marked by events like 'Muggu' competitions, kite flying, and cultural performances. Spread over three days, the festivities included bonfires, temple visits, and special greetings from local leaders, drawing many to their hometowns for the celebrations.

In a display of traditional fervor, Telangana celebrated the harvest festival of Sankranti across the state with great enthusiasm on Thursday. Colorful 'Muggu' or rangoli were creatively drawn outside homes as people paid visits to temples and engaged in prayers.

The festival commenced on Wednesday with the observance of 'Bhogi,' where bonfires were lit to mark the beginning of this auspicious three-day event. The celebratory days include 'Sankranti' and conclude with 'Kanuma,' where worship of cattle is a key feature.

Amid the joyous celebrations, Telangana's leadership, including Governor Jishnu Dev Varma and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, extended festive greetings to the public. Thousands, including those from Hyderabad, returned to their native places to partake in festivities like 'Muggu' contests, kite flying, and traditional musical performances. The 'International Kite and Sweet Festival' was also launched at the Parade Grounds ahead of the main celebrations.
