The Jammu and Kashmir tableau set to feature on Republic Day will vividly exhibit the union territory as a fusion of cultural legacy and contemporary artistic expression. Designed by Padma Shri awardee Balwant Thakur, this year's float will bring to life the region's crafts and folk traditions through a vibrant narrative.
On one side, ancestral arts like the samavar and Kani shawls will be displayed with intricate detail, while the other side celebrates dynamism through musical instruments like the rabab, santoor, and flute. Performers in traditional wear will animate the scene with folk dances, adding further depth to this cultural showcase.
The tableau, titled 'Handicrafts and Folk Dances of Jammu & Kashmir,' is intended as a tribute to artisans past and present, capturing the essence of the territory's craftsmanship and cultural vitality. This display marks another milestone in showcasing Jammu and Kashmir's evolving identity on the national stage, celebrating its diverse traditions and vibrant heritage.
