The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will launch the second edition of its extensive coastal cyclothon on January 28, 2026. This event spans 6,500 kilometers along India's eastern and western shores, emphasizing the importance of coastal security.
Coinciding with the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, the cyclothon is themed 'Secure Coast, Prosperous India.' It aims to heighten public awareness about coastal protection while promoting fitness among participants. The initiative also seeks to engage and associate coastal communities with these national interests.
According to CISF Director General Praveer Ranjan, this effort will not only bolster security but also foster cultural connections. Notably, 18 percent of the Indian population resides in coastal districts, and maritime routes handle 95 percent of the country's trade volume and 70 percent by value.
