Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has inaugurated the Keeladi Open-Air Museum located in Sivaganga district, presenting a rare glimpse into an ancient urban civilization.
The museum, covering 4.5 acres, provides visitors with a unique opportunity to explore original artifacts from the sixth-century site. These include brick walls, terracotta pipelines, and ring wells that demonstrate the advanced urban life once thriving along the Vaigai River.
Built at a cost of Rs 24.30 crore, the museum features two expansive exhibition galleries. The inauguration was held virtually from Chennai on February 13, according to an official statement. Additionally, Stalin laid the foundation stones for the Navai Museum in Ramanathapuram and the Noyyal Museum in Erode district.
