On the sacred occasion of Mahashivratri, over 21 lakh devotees thronged to the Magh Mela, marking the last bathing day of the ongoing event. By 10 am, huge crowds had already participated in the holy dip in the Ganga and Sangam, officials reported on Sunday.
The influx of devotees began late Saturday night, with participants continuing to arrive at the fair and spiritual bathing site. The district's leadership ensured smooth operations with comprehensive security strategies.
District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma confirmed robust safety arrangements, featuring SDRF and NDRF teams, along with boatmen and divers stationed at critical points. Facilities like changing rooms enhanced convenience while CCTV and drone surveillance ensured effective monitoring.
