Veteran singer Geeta Patnaik, renowned for her significant contributions to Odia music, passed away at the age of 73. She died on Sunday evening in a private hospital in Cuttack after suffering a brain stroke, as confirmed by family member Pradosh Patnaik.

Initially admitted to Capital Hospital following a sudden illness at an event, Geeta Patnaik was moved to a private facility where her condition worsened. Known for her collaborations with legendary singer Akshaya Mohanty, her work included beloved tracks like 'Phur Kina Udigala Bani' from 'Jajabar'.

Her passing has led to a wave of condolences from figures such as Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The leaders commended her for enriching Odia art and culture, with her melodious voice set to inspire generations.
