Kerala witnessed a historic surge in tourism in 2025, as reported by Tourism Minister P A Mohammed Riyas. A total of 2,58,80,365 tourists visited the state, marking the highest number since its formation.
This remarkable achievement signifies a 12.64% increase in domestic tourist arrivals compared to 2024, and a substantial 36.03% rise from pre-Covid statistics. Idukki district led with 46,79,800 domestic visitors, followed closely by Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram.
Riyas highlighted that strategic initiatives, including technology integration and improved infrastructure like National Highway-66, boosted tourism. The government addressed impediments by engaging stakeholders to rejuvenate the once-struggling sector affected by Covid-19.
