An alarming incident unfolded at the recent Celebrity Women Cricket Tournament where a Kannada television actress reported being secretly filmed in a washroom at Koramangala Indoor Stadium. The actress, also recognized as a reality show contestant, shared that an unknown individual captured an 'obscene and indecent video' without her consent.
The purported video was wrongly sent to her friend's Instagram, assumed to belong to the actress. Threats for further disclosures and demands for money ensued, with the perpetrators using blackmail tactics involving video calls and the promise of more leaked content if their demands were unmet.
Charges under the IT Act and sections related to voyeurism, criminal intimidation, and extortion have been filed at the Cyber Crime police station. The authorities have initiated a comprehensive probe to track down those responsible for this grave invasion of privacy.
