On Friday, Kerala reverberated with the joyous celebrations of Eid al-Fitr, known locally as Cheriya Perunnal. Mosques filled with worshippers attending special prayers, while major cities, including Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode, and Malappuram, opened Eidgahs for the occasion.

Faithful Muslims, completing a month of fasting and devotion during Ramadan, gathered to exchange greetings and share meals with family and friends. Despite a bustling election season, prominent political figures extended their warm wishes, emphasizing messages of sacrifice, kindness, and charity.

Opposition Leader V D Satheesan remarked on the spiritual purification achieved through fasting, Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan issued heartfelt greetings, and other leaders called for an inclusive, prosperous society. The festival, marked by charity through 'zakat', fostered unity and brotherhood.
