In Jharkhand's Ranchi district, a dramatic rescue unfolded as a sub-adult elephant was saved after falling into a 45-foot-deep well. The local forest department launched a three-hour operation to secure the elephant's safe extraction.
The pachyderm, a member of a herd of four, stumbled into the well located in Saryad village around 1 am. The rescue team was alerted at 5 am but faced delays due to objections from the well owner, said Sonahatu forest in-charge Supriyan Tuti.
Rescue efforts started at 8 am, using water and an earth mover to create a passage out of the well. By 11 am, the elephant was freed and joyfully reunited with its herd at Tamar block, restoring tranquility to the forest range.
