Kerala Governor Advocates for Constructive Dialogues

Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar emphasized the importance of dialogue over protests while speaking at Sankara Jayanthi celebrations. He criticized indiscriminate slogan shouting as against India's cultural ethos and called for debates akin to those propagated by Adi Shankara. The Governor's remarks followed protests by SFI activists.

On Tuesday, Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar highlighted the significance of meaningful dialogue, dismissing indiscriminate protests as contrary to India's cultural ethos. He referenced Adi Shankara's tradition of debate at the Sankara Jayanthi celebrations held at Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit.

During his speech, Governor Arlekar criticized the ubiquitous chants of 'zindabad' and 'murdabad,' advocating instead for constructive discussions in line with India's cultural heritage. This approach, he noted, was supported by Adi Shankara.

His remarks were punctuated by protests from the Students' Federation of India (SFI), a student organization aligned with the ruling CPI(M), highlighting ongoing tensions between the state's government and the Governor over university governance.
