Tigst Assefa from Ethiopia achieved what many athletes dream of—breaking her own world record at a prestigious event. On Sunday, during the London Marathon, Assefa clocked in an astonishing two hours, 15 minutes, and 41 seconds, shaving a mere nine seconds off her previous record set last year.

The race was fiercely competitive as Kenyans Hellen Obiri and Joyciline Jepkosgei finished close on her heels, with Obiri second at 2:15.53 and Jepkosgei third with a time of 2:15.55.

This monumental achievement solidifies Assefa's standing as an elite marathon runner, inspiring future generations of athletes and reshaping expectations for women's marathon records globally.
