Celestial Festivities: Lord Kallazhagar's Divine River Entry Marks Chithirai Peak

In a vibrant spectacle, the Chithirai festival reached its zenith as Lord Kallazhagar entered the Vaigai river. This annual event commemorates a sacred legend and attracts devotees statewide. Amidst thunderous chants and a multitude of devotees, Lord Kallazhagar, the venerated deity of Alagar Kovil, ceremoniously entered the Vaigai river on Friday, marking the celestial highlight of the Chithirai festival.

Draped in green silk symbolizing prosperity, the deity's arrival on a golden horse 'vahanam' was witnessed by lakhs of devotees, honoring an age-old tradition celebrating the salvation legend of Lord Sundararaja Perumal and Mandooka Maharishi.

Under intense security measures, the festival saw a grand procession with floral displays and religious fervor, culminating in the 'theerthavari' ritual, a vivid affirmation of faith and cultural heritage.
