Ashutosh Gowariker: Leading the Charge at IFFI's Helm

In a significant move in the Indian film industry, acclaimed filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker has been named the festival director for the 57th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), succeeding previous head Shekhar Kapur.
The Information and Broadcasting Ministry announced this appointment, highlighting Gowariker's significant contributions to Indian cinema and his long-standing association with IFFI. Established in 1952, IFFI is one of Asia's foremost film festivals.
Gowariker expressed immense pride in his new role, recognizing it as both an honor and a responsibility. 'From attending the festival in 1984 to 2024, my journey reflects my deep engagement with cinema and international film culture,' he remarked. The 62-year-old director looks forward to collaborating with the Ministry and the government of Goa to uphold the festival's legacy.
