Tragic Selfie Turns Deadly in Pune's Backwaters

In a tragic incident in Pune's Maval tehsil, an outing by a group of six friends ended in calamity when three drowned in the backwaters of Jadhavwadi Dam during a selfie attempt.
The group, from Bhosari, was enjoying a picnic when the tragedy unfolded around 3 pm, according to police reports. In a fatal misstep, one of the four friends trying to take a selfie slipped from the edge into deeper waters, causing all four to fall in unison, their arms interlocked.
Local rescue agencies, including Vanyajeev Rakshak Maval Sanstha and Shivdurg Rescue Group, alongside the National Disaster Response Force, responded promptly. Despite their efforts, three lives were lost, pulling the community into mourning.
