Revisiting Somnath: A Temple's Reconstruction Controversy

Maharashtra Congress leader Anant Gadgil criticizes Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking credit in the 75th-anniversary celebration of Somnath Temple's reconstruction. Gadgil highlighted that the initiative was led by Congress figures, including his grandfather Kakasaheb Gadgil and overlooked by the current government that attempts to claim historical credit.

On the 75th anniversary of the Somnath Temple reconstruction, Maharashtra Congress leader Anant Gadgil questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's involvement in the celebrated project originally spearheaded by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Kanhaiyalal Munshi, and Kakasaheb Gadgil.

Modi participated in the Somnath Amrut Mahotsav in Gujarat, emphasizing the date's historical importance, while Gadgil pointed out the Congress's pivotal role in the temple's revival, criticizing the BJP for seeking credit.

Gadgil, also the grandson of one of the original project leaders, lamented not receiving an invitation to the event, asserting that those without a reconstruction connection are managing it now.
