Enhancing Ajanta and Ellora: ASI's Tourism Boost

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) plans to enhance tourist amenities and stabilize boulders at Maharashtra's Ajanta and Ellora caves to prevent rockfalls. ASI aims to attract more visitors to the 78 monuments in Marathwada, focusing on improving facilities, with Ajanta and Ellora as top priorities.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is set to enhance the tourist experience at the renowned Ajanta and Ellora caves in Maharashtra, prioritizing the installation of new amenities and stabilizing boulders to prevent rockfalls.

Arun Malik, the newly appointed superintending archaeologist of ASI's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar circle, stated that their main aim is to make these world-famous sites more accessible and appealing to tourists. The circle encompasses 78 monuments spread across eight districts in the Marathwada region, including Ahilyanagar in western-central Maharashtra and the Nashik district in North Maharashtra.

Malik emphasized the priority of the Ajanta and Ellora projects, stating that their goal is to enhance visitor facilities and engage in significant boulder stabilization efforts at Ajanta. Additionally, ASI plans to promote other historically rich sites such as the Anjaneri temples group and the Gondeshwar temple at Sinnar in Nashik, reflecting the vast potential for tourism in the region.
