In an unprecedented move, former England wicketkeeper Sarah Taylor has been appointed as the first female coach to work with the men’s senior cricket team. Taylor will serve as the fielding coach for the upcoming three-test series against New Zealand.

The 36-year-old cricket star, who won both the Twenty20 and 50-over World Cups with England in 2009, retired from international cricket in 2019 after 226 appearances across all formats. Her coaching experience includes stints with Sussex and the England Lions after her retirement, and she steps in for Carl Hopkinson, who is currently with the Indian Premier League side Mumbai Indians.

Director of cricket Rob Key praised Taylor, emphasizing her exceptional abilities and collaborations with cricketing greats like Andrew Flintoff and Ed Barney. The England squad has also seen changes with Zak Crawley being dropped and Emilio Gay likely to partner with Ben Duckett in the first test match at Lord's.
