The Madhya Pradesh High Court has declared the disputed Bhojshala complex, located in Dhar, as a Saraswati temple, marking a significant win for Hindu petitioners. This decision follows an intense 700-year struggle for its recognition and restoration.
State vice president of the Hindu Front for Justice, Ashish Goyal, described the ruling as an 'unforgettable and historic day' for Hindus, noting its significance following the Ram Janmabhoomi case. The PIL claimed the site was initially a Saraswati temple, established in 1034 by King Bhoj of the Parmar dynasty before being transformed during Alauddin Khilji's invasion in 1305.
The High Court has also nullified the 2003 order from the Archaeological Survey of India, which had permitted Muslims to offer prayers at the complex. Celebrations erupted outside the court with sweets distributed amongst the petitioners, cementing the community's confidence in reclaiming their historical monument.
