Amit Shah's Green Initiative: Transforming Gandhinagar's Landscape

Union Home Minister Amit Shah revealed that 1.5 crore trees were planted in his Gandhinagar constituency over the past three years, contributing to a 2-3 degree reduction in the area's average temperature. At a review meeting, he proposed a major plantation drive in 2026-27 to bolster this green initiative.
During his visit to Gujarat, Shah met with newly-elected Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation councilors and discussed organizational and public service matters. He expressed confidence in their dedication to regional development and emphasized the importance of active participation in local advancements.
The senior BJP leader emphasized the environmental significance of tree planting and pond restoration, noting it as Gandhinagar constituency's new hallmark. Aiming for increased green cover, a target of planting over 1 crore saplings this year has been set, adopting various plantation models to achieve this goal.
