A committee of four members has been tasked with examining claims that expenses for VIP guests at Kedarnath shrine were covered by the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee.
The temple committee acted after social media allegations about improper payments surfaced, announcing the probe via an official statement on Wednesday. Sohan Singh Rangad, the committee's chief executive, ordered the investigation under the guidance of Hemant Dwivedi, the chairperson. A report is expected from the panel within three weeks.
''We cannot allow any misuse of temple donations,'' stated Dwivedi, promising public disclosure of the panel's findings and consequences for any misuse of funds identified.
This development comes amid online claims that funds from the temple committee were used for prominent devotees' accommodation and catering at Kedarnath Dham.
