Hollywood Mourns: Actor James Handy Tragically Stabbed at California Home

In a shocking incident in Tarzana, California, beloved veteran actor James Handy, recognized for his appearance in 'Top Gun: Maverick,' was fatally stabbed, reported PEOPLE. The Los Angeles Police Department has apprehended a 44-year-old suspect relating to the crime.

According to the LAPD, officers responded to Handy's home on June 3 after a chilling 911 call. The caller reportedly identified himself as 'the son of man' and confessed to the killing, saying, 'I just killed the man of sin,' according to dispatch audio acquired by PEOPLE.

Upon arriving at the residence, officers discovered Handy, 81, unresponsive with a chest stab wound in his front yard. Despite immediate medical attention and transportation to the hospital, Handy was pronounced dead. Authorities named Michael Gledhill, the son of Handy's girlfriend, as the suspect. He was arrested and taken to Van Nuys Jail.

Gledhill faces a murder charge, with his bail set at USD 2 million. Investigators sealed streets near the crime scene and conducted neighborhood inquiries following the incident.

James Handy's illustrious career spanned decades in Hollywood, with memorable roles in films and shows like Jumanji, Arachnophobia, and Logan, as well as TV series including NYPD Blue and Alias. His last screen appearance was in the 2022 blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick.
