In a significant step for the young royal, Britain's Prince George will attend Eton College, the prestigious institution has educated prominent figures including British prime ministers. Kensington Palace announced on Tuesday that George, the 12-year-old grandson of King Charles, will start at Eton this September, continuing a family tradition.

Prince William, the heir to the British throne, and his brother Prince Harry both attended Eton, which is renowned for its rigorous academic standards and rich history. Eton, located near Windsor Castle west of London, charges about £63,000 ($84,552) a year for tuition at its all-boys boarding school.

Prince George currently attends Lambrook School with his siblings. Eton College, founded in 1440, boasts an impressive alumni list, including 20 British prime ministers and celebrated actors. The school maintains its historic traditions, dressing pupils in formal attire and using the term "beaks" for teachers.
