Petition saved Wentworth Season 8, Season 9 to start with 101st episode

The making of Wentworth Season 8 was already confirmed by Foxtel in December 2018 before the premiere of Season 7. Fans of the Australian television series are quite happy that Netflix immediately picked up Wentworth Season 7 once it dropped its finale on July 30, 2019. Here we have some important and encouraging updates for the ardent viewers who are waiting for Season 8 to premiere.

A rumor earlier broke out on July 6, 2018 that Foxtel had made the decision not to renew for Wentworth Season 8 after Season 7. Immediately a petition was launched on Change.org by the name “Save Wentworth”. The supports from fans not only from Australia but several parts of the world were proved highly effective and Foxtel was left with no option than announcing the making of Season 8 in December last year.

You may be aware that Wentworth Season 8 will be consisting of 20 episodes, much higher than the previous seasons. While Season 1 and 7 consisted of 10 episodes, Season 2 to 6 consisted of 12 episodes. This is the first time any episode is going to have more number of episodes. Does it mean the Australian television drama programme will end after airing Season 8?

You should not worry as Wentworth Season 9 is also confirmed. We recently had an announcement that the series would remain on air until 2021, which means fans can also have Season 10 or more. The reason behind giving order for 20 episodes is to complete 100 episodes with the finale of Season 8. Consequently, Season 9 will start with 101^st episode.

However, Season 8 of Wentworth does not have an official release date. But based on the airing dates of the previous seasons, we can assume Season 8 to have its premiere in spring 2020.
