The Braves designed Toussaint as the 26th man for the doubleheader.

The 22-year-old is considered to be one of Atlanta's top prospects. He was a first-round pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2014 and acquired by the Braves in a 2015 trade.

Toussaint went 4-6 with a 2.93 ERA in 16 starts at Double-A Mississippi this season before being moved up to Triple-A Gwinnett, where he went 2-0 with a 2.01 ERA in five starts. Across both stops, he has combined for a 2.68 ERA with 139 strikeouts in 117 1/3 innings.

"You look at his numbers, he's had a really solid year," Atlanta manager Brian Snitker told reporters. "He's getting it. All the guys who've been around him ever since we got him (talk about) how much he's grown up, how he's starting to get a handle on things.

"We've loved his arm from the beginning. But the kid's starting to mature, starting to get it. I'm excited. He came in this morning and I didn't remember him being that big. He's a big, stout kid."
