UAE says no official aid announcement made for Kerala flood

Meanwhile, UAE's Ambassador Ahmed Albana said on Thursday that there was no official announcement about any specific amount in the form of financial assistance by the United Arab Emirates. He said The relief required for the flood and its consequences is being evaluated. Announcing any specific amount as a financial aid, I do not think the final has been done so far.

When Albana was asked if the UAE has not announced financial assistance of INR 70 crores, then he said, 'Yes, that is true. It has not been final yet. It has not been announced yet.

Earlier this week, Kerala's Chief Minister Pinarai Vijayan had said that Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is the prince of Abu Dhabi, had told Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he would give INR 700 crores assistance during the phone conversation.

During an interview, Vijayan talked about his state's special relationship with the UAE. He had said, 'UAE should not be seen as any other country.' After which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs turned down the proposal by highlighting India's policy.
