Google Doodle celebrates Father's Day 2018

Contrary to popular belief, Father's Day was originally celebrated on 5 July 1908 in Fairmont, West Virginia.

Fathers Day is a widely celebrated festival in honor of fathers, in which the fatherhood, parenthood bonding and the effects of fathers in society are celebrated ceremonially. In many countries, it is celebrated on the third Sunday of June and the rest of the country on other days. It is complementary to Mother's Day, celebrated for the mother's honor. Google Doodle is celebrating Father's Day 2018.

In Catholic Europe, it was celebrated on March 19 (St. Joseph's Day) since the Middle Ages. This celebration was presented by the Spaniards and the Portuguese to Latin America, where March 19 is still used frequently, although many countries in Europe and America have adopted the date of the United States on the third Sunday of June 2018.

According to Discovery News, Father's Day was established as a date to give the papal present to an association of men's clothing retailers in New York, which has partnered with the commemorative card industry. All of this happened during the Great Depression when profits were well below expectations, and the goal was to boost sales of ties and greeting cards.
