The CBI arrested an intelligence officer of the NCB and an advocate on Tuesday in connection with an alleged bribery case, a statement by the investigating agency said Tuesday.

A complaint was registered alleging that the intelligence officer of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had demanded Rs two lakh as a bribe and agreed to accept Rs 50,000 for not implicating anyone in a case. After verification, the central agency laid a trap and caught the advocate for demanding and accepting money on behalf of the officer.

The officer was also arrested. Searches were conducted at the official and residential premises of the accused and will be produced in the designated court at Kolkata today.
