Man held while allegedly trying to abduct child

Thane, Sep 13(PTI) A man was nabbed by local people when he allegedly tried to abduct a six-year-old girl in Palghar district of Maharashtra, police said.

Alim Kashim Shah, the accused, was arrested under IPC section 363 (kidnapping), said Palghar rural police's PRO Hemant Kumar Katkar Thursday.

The alleged incident took place at Manor village Wednesday afternoon, he said. Shah allegedly took the girl away when she was playing in the courtyard of her house with her younger brother.

When her brother raised alarm, villagers chased the accused and handed him over to police. Further probe is on, the PRO said.
