Nike's Kaepernick ad spurs a spike in sold-out items

Nike Inc has sold out 61 percent more merchandise since the controversial ad campaign featuring former NFL player Colin Kaepernick appeared earlier this month, according to data on the company's online sales from Thomson Reuters Proprietary Research. Kaepernick, who sparked a national controversy by kneeling during the national anthem, first tweeted the ad on the Labor Day weekend, which immediately sparked demands for a boycott of the company's products.

Nike shares have hit an all-time high after the Kaepernick ad, so good news to everyone who burned their Nike products: it worked!

NFL notebook: Rodgers (knee) will play

Aaron Rodgers plans to play with a left knee injury for the third consecutive game on Sunday, and the Green Bay Packers' perennial MVP candidate is worried his condition will get worse before it improves. "Obviously that's a concern," Rodgers said Wednesday. "Hopefully it goes the other way."

Lakers G Ball not ready for contact

Lakers guard Lonzo Ball is not ready for contact and will be limited when Los Angeles opens training camp next week. Head coach Luke Walton said the Lakers are in no rush to put Ball into full-contact drills. Ball had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in July.
