Mob injures circle officer in Garwah

A circle officer suffered injuries in brickbatting by a mob when a police team was trying to vacate a footpath allegedly encroached by vendors in Garwah district on Saturday, officials said.

Garwah Circle Officer Vaidhyanath Kamti was injured when the vendors pelted stones near the Government Bus stand and a Goushala here.

Kamti said five persons including Santosh Keshri, a local BJP leader and husband of the councillor Pinki Keshri, were detained for interrogation.

A case was registered for obstructing government officials from discharging their duties.
