UDF to picket Kerala secretariat on May 20

Thiruvananthapuram, May 17 PTI The opposition Congress-led UDF workers will conduct a massive secretariat picketing on May 20, when the Kerala government celebrates its second anniversary. The Left government has no right to celebrate the anniversary as it has only provided misery to the people of Kerala, Hassan said.

The opposition Congress-led UDF workers will conduct a massive secretariat picketing on May 20, when the Kerala government celebrates its second anniversary. UDF convenor, MM Hassan said thousands of UDF workers from all districts will participate in the secretariat picketing. ''The Left government has no right to celebrate the anniversary as it has only provided misery to the people of Kerala,'' Hassan said. He said the UDF is not participating in the anniversary celebrations as the government is spending several crores of rupees from the state exchequer for the celebrations.

UDF will also submit a 'chargesheet', explaining the various instances of corruption, nepotism, and anti-people policies of the government, the leader said.

During the agitation, UDF will raise demands like immediate action to arrest price inflation, clear pension dues, withdrawal of increased taxes, announce minimum support price for agricultural produce, payment of crop insurance dues, payment of salary dues to KSRTC employees, judicial inquiry into the AI camera corruption, and investigation into the K-Fone scam, he said. All senior leaders from the UDF will take part in the protest.
