India Prepares for 21st Livestock Census with Strategic Workshop

Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh stressed the importance of proper planning for the 21st Livestock Census during a strategic workshop. The event aimed to empower states and UTs in data collection, emphasizing its significance for addressing sector challenges and aligning with sustainable development goals.

In a bid to ensure seamless execution of the upcoming 21st Livestock Census, Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh underscored the importance of meticulous planning. Speaking at a strategic workshop on Tuesday, Singh emphasized that the collected data would play a vital role in addressing sector challenges.

The workshop, which was inaugurated by Singh, focused on equipping states and Union Territories (UTs) with strategies for the census, which is scheduled to take place from September to December 2024. A new mobile application for data collection was also launched during the event, symbolizing a step towards leveraging technology for efficient data collection.

Ministers of State S P Singh Baghel and George Kurian, who were also present, highlighted the need for comprehensive training and capacity building at the grassroots level. They stressed the critical role of accurate data in shaping policies and aligning with the National Indicator Framework of Sustainable Development Goals.
