British water regulator Ofwat announced on Thursday an increase in customers' bills, designed to give Thames Water the opportunity to obtain a fair set of returns. The focus now shifts to the utility to secure the necessary funding to prevent a collapse.
"We believe the determination we've set offers Thames Water a fair set of returns," stated Ofwat Chief Executive David Black during an interview with BBC radio. It is now up to the company to approach investors and raise the required funds.
This decision comes amid growing concerns about Thames Water's financial stability and its capacity to continue providing essential services without additional investment.
