A powerful tremor has shaken the Rydultowy coal mine in Poland, leading to at least 10 reported injuries among miners and a massive rescue operation for dozens still missing. The incident occurred at a depth of 1,200 meters around 8 am local time, with the cause still under investigation.

According to Polish Coal Mining Group spokesperson Aleksandra Wysocka-Siembiga, rescuers are currently working to bring more miners to the surface. So far, 15 of the 68 miners present at the time of the tremor have been brought up, with 10 of them hospitalized. Airborne ambulances are actively participating in the rescue efforts.

Lukasz Pach, head of the ambulance service in Katowice, confirmed that the hospitalized miners are in stable condition. The Rydultowy mine, which dates back to 1792, currently employs approximately 2,000 workers.
