Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday provided Rs 4 lakh in assistance to each of the families of four individuals who perished in the recent floods. The Chief Minister also carried out an aerial survey of Shravasti, a flood-affected area, and distributed essential relief materials to impacted residents.

Addressing the flood situation, CM Adityanath noted, 'On the 6th and 7th of July, Nepal and Uttarakhand experienced heavy rainfall, causing unprecedented flooding in our region for this time of the year. We have allocated Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased.' He emphasized that the state government had made significant efforts for flood prevention, citing the inundation of the Rapti, Saryu, and Sharda rivers. More than 17 lakh people across 12 districts have been affected, and relief operations are ongoing with the help of NDRF, SDRF, and PAC-Flood Unit teams. A total of 1033 flood relief shelters have been established in these districts.

On Wednesday, the Chief Minister inspected flood-stricken areas in Lakhimpur Kheri and conducted an aerial survey in Pilibhit, distributing relief materials to the affected populace. Post-survey, he highlighted that 133 villages had been submerged due to incessant rainfall, impacting thousands of hectares of cropland. Local authorities and public representatives are working tirelessly to mitigate the damage. He noted that early precautionary measures near the Sharada Barrage and other flood-prone regions had prevented greater losses of life and property.

The devastation has hit 12 districts, with ongoing rescue and relief operations proceeding at a rapid pace. Numerous villages, especially in Lakhimpur Kheri, have been severely impacted by the overflow of the Sharda River. Many homes have been damaged, compelling residents to move into makeshift shelters.
