CISF Reserves 10% Posts for Agniveers Amid Controversy

CISF Director General Nina Singh announced that 10% of constable posts will be reserved for Agniveers. Rahul Gandhi criticized the Central Government over compensation issues.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Director General Nina Singh has confirmed the reservation of 10% of constable posts for Agniveers. She stated that the organisation has also made provisions for relaxation in age and the Physical Efficiency Test, aiming to ensure maximum benefits for Agniveers.

This announcement comes amidst growing concerns from Congress and other opposition parties, following the recent death of Agniveer Ajay Singh in a landmine blast near the Line of Control in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir. Singh stressed that these measures will benefit both Agniveers and the CISF by providing a capable and disciplined workforce.

Last week, Rahul Gandhi criticized the Central Government over the Agniveer scheme and the lack of compensation for Ajay Kumar's family. Gandhi also accused Defence Minister Rajnath Singh of misinformation in Parliament regarding the scheme and demanded an apology. In response, the Indian Army's Additional Directorate General of Public Information clarified that Ajay Kumar's family had received a substantial amount in compensation, with more to follow post-verification.
