Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Thursday morning after he complained of back pain. The Defence Minister is in stable condition and is currently under observation, according to a statement from the hospital.
"Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was admitted to the old private ward, early morning today, with a complaint of back pain. He is stable and under observation," AIIMS Delhi reported in an official statement. Singh celebrated his 73rd birthday on Wednesday.
Rajnath Singh, a Member of Parliament from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, is serving his second term as the Defence Minister. Previously, he held the position of Union Home Minister during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's first term in 2014. Singh has also served in multiple other significant roles, including Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Minister of Agriculture in the Union Cabinet. His extensive political career dates back to his tenure as a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 1977 to 1980 and again from 2001 to 2003.
