Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday dismissed accusations that guarantee schemes are a burden on the state's exchequer. Speaking at the KPCC office, he stated, 'The state government is not facing any financial burden due to the guarantee schemes. We had given our word and have kept it.'

Shivakumar responded to Basavaraja Rayareddy's claims that the guarantee schemes are draining finances. 'These schemes were not introduced for votes but to improve lives impacted by price rises. People are watching and will support us,' he noted.

Addressing the CRWC meeting on water release to Tamil Nadu, he remarked, 'Our dam storage is not as expected. I prefer not to comment yet; let's pray for good rains.' On the AICC fact-finding committee, he added, 'The committee gathered opinions from MLAs and officials and will meet defeated candidates and other leaders for feedback before reporting to the AICC.'
