Two persons, including a college girl, have been apprehended for their suspected involvement in the murder of another female student in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, a police official reported on Thursday. The accused have been identified as Gaurav Sarkaar, aged 23, and Snigdha Mishra. The murder took place over two months ago, in the last week of April, under the jurisdiction of Kshipra police station, according to Superintendent of Police Hitika Vasal.

A missing persons report was filed for college student Syed Sahara at Kshipra police station on April 26. Upon investigation, it was discovered that Sahara was last seen with Gaurav. Throughout the inquiry, Gaurav repeatedly misled police and changed his location, SP Vasal informed reporters. He was eventually apprehended in Nashik, where he had been working as a waiter, and brought back to Indore. Under intense interrogation, he confessed to the crime and implicated his friend Snigdha Mishra in the murder. They disposed of Sahara's body in the Harsola forest, the SP detailed.

The investigation uncovered that the murder motive involved complicated love interests: Gaurav liked Sahara, who was interested in another person, while Snigdha liked Gaurav. Gaurav allegedly blackmailed Snigdha for her cooperation. On April 25, Gaurav lured Sahara with a trip to Choral and Omkareshwar and picked up Snigdha along the way. They diverted to a forest where Gaurav strangled and stabbed Sahara. Police have recovered various items from the forest believed to belong to Sahara. Further forensic testing is underway as the investigation continues, SP Vasal noted.
