High-Level Meeting to Strengthen Border Security

A high-level coordination meeting in Kathua saw the BSF, Punjab Police, and J&K Police review border security and devise strategies against smuggling and narcotics. To bolster the security apparatus, the Border Security Force (BSF), Punjab Police, and Jammu and Kashmir Police convened a high-level coordination conference at the Conference Hall of District Police Line (DPL) in Kathua on Thursday. The primary agenda focused on a comprehensive review of the current security situation and devising robust strategies to counter the challenges.

The meeting was attended by high-ranking officials, including Special DG of BSF Western Command Y B Khurania, DGP J&K R R Swain, DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav, and others. Discussions centered on tackling border smuggling, narcotics, arms, and contraband, with reviews of recent seizures and intelligence inputs to identify key smuggling routes and methods.

The officers highlighted the importance of coordinated patrolling, the deployment of advanced technology, and inter-agency cooperation. They also stressed the need for real-time information sharing and proposed several strategic initiatives, including regular joint training sessions and drills, to enhance the security framework along the border.
