India's Maritime Future: SMWTC Meeting Set for July 16

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Government of India, will hold the State Maritime and Waterways Transport Committees meeting on July 16 via video conferencing, chaired by Secretary TK Ramachandran. The meeting will address state-specific Maritime and Waterways Transport Master Plans and collaborative development efforts.

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways (MoPSW), Government of India, is set to convene the State Maritime and Waterways Transport Committees (SMWTC) meeting on July 16. The meeting, chaired by Secretary TK Ramachandran, aims to ensure comprehensive development of maritime and waterways transport across India, extending its initiatives to all states.

The agenda focuses on developing state-specific Maritime and Waterways Transport Master Plans, formulating Maritime Sector Policies, and discussing Green Initiatives, Waterways Development, Cruise Tourism, and Urban Water Transportation. According to the Ministry’s press release, SMWTCs will coordinate various state-level initiatives and provide strategic leadership within the sector.

Each SMWTC will include top state officials, representatives from major ports, maritime boards, and other key departments. The meeting will review progress, debate state-specific challenges, and discuss the implementation of national programs such as the Sagarmala Programme and Harit Nauka Scheme, aiming for collaborative solutions to enhance India's maritime and waterways sector.
