The rural area of Karnal experienced its first monsoon showers on Monday, delivering much-needed relief from the heat. The rain has proved beneficial for farmers, aiding paddy and sorghum crops. Sorghum serves dual purposes as both fertilizer and animal feed.
Residents reported consistent rainfall over the past few days, contributing to improved crop growth. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms and moderate rainfall in Karnal, Jind, Panipat, and Kaithal. Concurrently, rainfall in Delhi on July 13 led to waterlogging and traffic congestion, offering respite from the intense heat of July.
Noida also witnessed significant rainfall, affecting daily life. Visuals from Delhi's Barapullah flyover depicted vehicles maneuvering through waterlogged streets. The IMD forecasts that light rain will persist in Delhi and Noida until July 17, potentially raising water levels in the Yamuna River. Authorities have issued alerts for Noida villages along the riverbanks.
Moreover, heavy rains have caused chaos in Uttar Pradesh, resulting in severe waterlogging in Moradabad. Local resident Sunil Kumar reported road closures and difficulties in accessing food and resources. The IMD has forecast continued rainfall in North and North-East India, affecting East Uttar Pradesh and other regions.
