One of four power units at the Rostov nuclear plant in southern Russia has been shut down due to a malfunction, the Russian energy ministry and state nuclear energy company Rosatom said on Tuesday. Rosatom said the power unit was automatically shut down due to a malfunction of the turbine generator.
"The reasons are being investigated, the radiation background is normal," a Rosatom representative told Reuters. The ministry said temporary restrictions had been imposed on power usage in the south of the country because of the incident.
